Indigenous People’s Art Gallery and Cafe’

The Indigenous People’s Art Gallery and Cafe was created in 2019 in Iowa City, Iowa. Founder Dawson Davenport noticed an absence of Indigenous representation in Iowa’s Art scene and was determined to fill that void. Dawson created a space for Indigenous Art and Artists ranging from art exhibitions, music, poetry readings, film screenings, fashion shows, comedy shows and food.

The Indigenous Peoples Art Gallery and Cafe is a space for Indigenous Arts events. Our vision is to be a unique space for the Midwest region providing a place to learn about history of Indigenous people with an emphasis on Iowa’s historical tribal nations. Our goal is to provide education through contemporary arts.
