Indigenous People’s Art Gallery and Cafe’

What is the Indigenous People’s Art Gallery and Cafe?

The Indigenous People’s Art Gallery and Cafe was created in 2019 in Iowa City, Iowa. Founder Dawson Davenport noticed an absence of Indigenous representation in Iowa’s Art scene and was determined to fill that void. Dawson created a space for Indigenous Art and Artists ranging from art exhibitions, music, poetry readings, film screenings and food.

Today, Dawson continues that vison by continuing to promote and support Indigenous Arts. Not only is Dawson a working artist himself but he uses his platforms to uplift other Indigenous artists as well.
